The scenic region of Värmland in west central Sweden is the backdrop of a new character-driven comedy series in ten episodes to be directed by Ulf Malmros (pictured) for Bob Film and TV4. Ack Värmland (that borrows its title from an old Swedish folk song) will be set in the director’s own birthplace, the small town of Molkom in Värmland.
Swedish comedy actress Mia Skäringen (The 100 year old Man who Climbed out the Window and Disappeared) plays Anette who lives with her daughter Fanny (Ida Hallquist). She works in a staff canteen but the day she is replaced by a coffee machine, she decides to venture out into the harsh world of self-employment and starts a nail and pedicure salon where she employs her unemployed daughter Fanny.
The comedy show written by Malmros is produced by Anette Brantin and Jan Blomgren (Bob Film) in co-production with Film i Väst. TV4’s Jessica Ericstam is executive producer. Filming starts in August with a premiere set for 2015.
